I have a brand new Selkirk woodstove pipe which to me appears to be turning a little bronze or copper colored on the cap only. No soot or anything like that. I have a new Fireview going through it which has benn run 15 to 18 times. The stove runs awesome. I always use dry wood and run it a godd (en or fifteen min opened up on 4, then shut down slowly to around 1.5 on warmer nights or around 1 if a good flame or colder night. Is the osidation like this normal.
I know on my stainless steel sugar hs pipe it has a bronze look all over yrs later?

Nothing to worry about, that is normal. Relax and enjoy your stove.

Quite normal Sappy. Enjoy the heat.

Yep, normal. It will get all shiny next good hard rain, wait till you see it at the end of the season, then how purdy it looks next summer after a few good down pours.

Mine looks like that and has since we moved here. Rain doesn't help. As long as it's not affecting the function (it doesn't), not a problem.

Key here is "brand new". Rain will knock a majority of the discoloration off, IMHO.

Just trying to soften the blow when it eventually doesn't get pretty after a rain. Unless the plan is to scrub it down every couple months.
You're probably right though, being new it may stay nice after rain......for a while.
