Connecting PelPro to Masonry Chimney

Hello,

We have a new PelPro pp130 pellet stove and I am connecting it to our masonry chimney that use to be used by a coal stove. Pellet stove taking its place.

Below is our current set up using PelletVent 3” pelle stove pipe. I bought a PelletVent chimney pipe adapter to connect the 3” pipe to the 6” single wall black stove pipe before it goes into the clay lined masonry chimney, however I am not sure that adapter is what I need. Hoping for some guidance, thanks!

I was taught it has to always be double wall pellet pipe inside the house,right up to the chimney,in your case.But,i do not do installs.Local codes may apply.It should be in your owners manual.

Here is what I did with mine similar to yours seems to be working fine. My chimney has an 8" opening tried a 8 to 6 inch adapter between the chimney and pellet pipe 3 to 6 but it resulted in the stove being farther away from the wall than I wanted. So I got an 8" plug and cut a 4" circle out of it using a hole saw and screwed it to the 3 to 6 adapter with some 3/8'' long #10 sheet metal screws.

Now the caveat's many will say you have to line the chimney with something in the 4 to 6 inch range and they may well be right in many cases,

I understood that but also now several people that have done it in a similar manner with good results so I decided to try it this way and will continue with it until I see a reason not too. It's only been a few weeks but so far so good.

I'm also not using outside air I was planning to do that eventually but it noe a simple thing they way my house is laid out so that may go by the wayside.

I’m looking at a Peloro-130 direct to my masonry chimney. How did yours work any issue or performance problems?
