Picked up today while browsing craigslist, now I have to decide if I want to sell it to a friend and still buy a PS7900. Decisions Decisions...

Saw has had 2 tanks through it, guy sold since he hurt his back and can't cut anymore.

Paid $420.00 Cash

Nice. I'd keep it.

Nice saw for the money, but I had a MS460 and sold it for more than I paid on ebay and bought a Dolmar 7900 with 24 inch bar and don't regret it one bit. ;-)

"pt went bk" So what are you saying by that?

The really nice thing is I know the saw wasn't stolen which is always a risk with Craigslist stuff. The guy had the manual, little toolkit with scrench and allen tools, and the original receipt.

Its a nice saw for sure!

If it were me I would keep the saw as opposed to buying a new Dolmar. Dolmar is making a pretty good saw, but I don't find them to be quite to the level of the pro grade Stihls or Husqvarna. Perhaps that has changed, but where I live anyway Dolmar dealers are far and few between, and you always can find a Stihl or Husqvarna dealer if you need service or parts.

I meant if someone wants to pay more for a used Stihl than what I paid for it, then who is the sucker?

"no body" that just makes the stihl a very sought after product! and you never have to worry about getting your money back if you need to sell. "or make some money" cant think of very many tools that can do that!

Id keep it thats a great Saw ! Will last a lifetime . Your only cutting trees and firewood. Why waste the Money on the Dolmar, when you got a great Saw !

Just out of curiosity...what are the "jaws/teeth" on the saw where the bar meets the saw? (I'm guessing to dig into and not kick when cutting, just never seen that before)

there called felling dawgs it helps with leaverage

I've always heard them called bucking teeth. They help grab the log and give you leverage.

Yo T - nice find. I find myself being a Stihl guy, partly because of the dealer/support in my area. Its a fine saw, for sure.

TMonter, I have to agree with Jags on this one. I'm a Stihl guy. I would love to have that saw for $420!!! I'm hoping to get my hands on a 460. I admittedly have never used or even seen a dolmar in person. No dolmar dealers anywhere near me. But I've got about 5 Stihl dealers within 45min and 2 of those are within 15min. I know all the cool kids are jumping on the Dolmars but I think a lot of that is that people just want to see stihl get knocked down because they've been on top for so long. Just my $.02.

Keep the Stihl. It'll never let ya down.

I think I may hang onto the Stihl for a couple firewood loads this year to see how I like it, I already have my 372XPW so we'll see how they fare against each other. I'm guessing based off past experience they will cut pretty close to the same.

Seems to be pretty comparable in weight/balance to my 372 from what I can tell. This weekend I'll pull the muffler and check the piston/cylinder but I'm sure it's in excellent shape.
