ECO-45 Drolet igniter replacement

There was a thread about substituting a Grainger number 4NJG6 is 6 inches long compared to the required 5 inches for this model. Just wanted to point that out. I have found that 4NJG4 is a 5" 300 watt model of the correct size. No matter to me though as I exhausted every possible way to get a new igniter on the cheap , I found that I could buy 5 of them for under 30 bucks shipping free from China on Ebay. Anyone wants a link let me know. You have to know your specs to find it and as mentioned in that previous post on the matter, they are properly called "heater cartridges". BTW, my original igniter lasted 7 years.

Also while I think of it, if you are an ECO-45 owner, (others also perhaps) You may have had your blower fan take to squealing , and oiling it doesn't last very long. My fan was starting to really having a problem spooling up and I was worried it would burn out, so drastic action. If you take the end off the motor, you will see a sealed bearing. They tell you it needs no grease because it is sealed. Wrong. Pry the seal off with a very sharp dental pick ,try not to destroy it. It will be bone dry so add some grease-I used wheel bearing grease. No problems since even though the bearing had play and could use replacement,if you can get it off the shaft. The bearing is : NMB 627s - Thailand. -easy to find. But the grease treatment worked well and I think it is quieter than when it was new.

I have a 45 also. I've noticed u haven't been around for a bit. (reading your older threads) so I,ve been up to camp the last 2 days and had the 45 blasting. works well and I also have a 35. I just haven't hooked it up yet. id like to have heat at both ends of the camp. I did notice on the 45 that the middle of the door on the top that the stove did bow in as said on a earlier thread that u or someone else mentioned. anything else I should know feel free to let me know.

Do you have a link for the bearings? I had to put a new blower fan on my stove this year so I would like to rebuild my old one to have as a spear, it still works, I'm pretty sure the bearings are bad. I have a link for some on Ebay, from everything I've read on here they are the same bearing but I would like to make sure I order the right ones.

I did find these ones but I don't think it's them, 80mm is only 3 inches.

yes that appears to be them. Good deal too but I don't expect that one bearing will be more than ten bucks local.

Here is a close up of the actual bearing. As I mentioned, get a sharp knife under that little ridge to pry the seal cover off without destroying it and then pack it with grease. My bearing was worn but now that blower is very quiet in spite of it. As for anything else I have discovered about the stove, when you give it the full everything cleaning, I found it helpful to tip the whole stove frontwards (very heavy-put pellet bags on floor for protection) to get that extra bit of soot out from the top. It is very hard to get that area clean, accessed from inside the stove behind the left baffle way at the top.

As for the igniters, the Ebay ones are just a strait rod, mine has some kind of nut
on it, does that rod just slid out of that nut?

These links were posted in the original post about how to deal with the nut issue. It looks correct but I haven't checked it. I would think any auto parts or hardware store would have these. I will see if the old nut will come off the original but I doubt it will.

There are two screws-it is the bearing housing. Make sure it is aligned when you re-install it. A slight offset will cause the armature to drag. I'm not sure which tabs you are referring to. Use a box cutter knife with a new blade , is what I think I used to get that bearing seal off. I think you will need a puller or press to remove the bearing completely-did not try it. Did you also see my auger motor bearing fix? Still running quiet-it was noisier when new. I think all the bearings on these stoves should all be serviced from day one as they are all crap. I expect the combex (?) motor will be the next problem to tackle. Surprised it didn't fail already.

Funny you should say that, a Buddy of mine has the same stove and his went about a month ago. He's not going to
fix it until next fall.

Looks like this summer, I'll do a tear down on mine on a bench in the garage, were I can get really intimate with mine.

I'm not doing this kinda work bent over in the living room.

That is not a very good picture-hard to tell exactly what I'm looking at, but it appears different than mine-from what I can make out. Eco-45 right? I unbolted my blower using the 4 bolts on the housing where the air goes into the stove.

Your looking a the end of the motor after the fan shroud has been taken off. Yes it is an Eco 45

Yeah I thought the same thing when I looked at your picture (my motor looks different).

Seems like they have been making changes to the Eco-45 as they have been going along. Guess you have to pay attention to the serial # when getting replacement parts... unless stove body and the board can handle the changes. Check with Drolet?

This is not the exact convection fan motor but it does show a similar bearing end cap, which can be removed to service the bearing.

That's a lot different then mine. You must have one of the older models, my serial number is in the 4900's.
