We got 4 inches of snow last night, in the NC mountains, 20 to 30 mph winds, 35 degrees. I fired up the little Waterford.

[Hearth.com] First Fire of the Season

This is a little stove made in Ireland by the same company that makes crystal. Back in 1998 when I bought this stove there was a big wood stove store in N. Atlanta that sold a lot of Waterfords, and they had one up and burning on the showroom. They also sold VC and Jotul, but both had gone to the cat, and they dissuaded me from buying a stove with a cat.

Well the Waterford is a decent little stove. It has a tiny firebox. If you don't add wood every 3 hours it will go out. Really pitiful burn time.

I understand that Waterford has quit doing business in America but still sells wood stoves in Europe.

I have an older waterdord trinity. A big stove. It has been great! Fire lasts all night - no problem. Parts are a problem though. The pipes the help with combustion located in the top of the firebox deteriorated. I contacted Ireland and they had the pipe, but good lord..THE PRICE!!! My husband is a metal worker and he just replicated them for a fraction of the price. The folks in Ireland were super helpful though!!
