Harmon room temp/manual setting

What are the drawbacks of using manual setting when in room temp mode? Because the fire never goes out, simply slows down, does that consume more pellets or is there some heating benefit/ trade off vs shutting down completely in between auto ignite stars? Is there a concern that the combustion blower running constantly will have a shorter life span? Wouldn't the only reason to use the manual setting would be to extend the igniter life or if the igniter has already failed or wanting to lessen electrical current should you be using a portable generator during a power failure?

Only difference is that the fire goes into maintenance mode instead of going out, may or may not use more pellets and will lessen the wear on the igniter.

I find that by leaving it in manual, having the fire not go out, the heat responds faster to the call from the sensor. Keeps my heat very even.

Room temp manual gives me a more even heat throughout the house. Stove never shuts down and wife is happy. In stove temp I can't find a comfortable setting.

I've been experimenting with the room temp manual versus the automatic. It doesn't seem to use more pellets and my thinking is because the room temp is closer to the set temp there is less high fire and that makes up for burning all the time. Definitely less igniter wear and less electricity used.

I agree on the fact that it doesn't use more pellets. When in stove temp, my stoves like a bottomless pit. Can't feed it enough!

Some folks on here hate when Harman is misspelled.
I use mine in auto mode spring and fall and manual in the winter under 30 deg to keep a flame going.

I use room temp mode exclusively, along with a remote thermostat. During cold spells, we flip the switch to manual since there are more calls for heat. The pros - when the remote thermostat calls for heat, the stove is already warm, the blower kicks on, and the flame ramps right up. The cons - we find it does use more pellets, though there is radiant heat coming off the stove, so the heat from those extra pellets isn't completely wasted out the flue.
