Has anyone repaired a cracked firebrick with refractory cement?

Is any refractory cement or refractory mortar adaquate?

Yes but it doesn't work very well

It just doesn't hold up well at all. What stove is this for?
I've had excellent luck with it...but I wasn't trying to glue a pile of gravel back into a brick though either...
