Short video taken yesterday. Small reload 3 hours earlier. Wood was 15% when loaded. Mostly coals and charred logs so I know there is no steam in the firebox. My current cat is entering on year 6 this winter. I burn from Dec-Apr, so probably 3,000 hours per year, max 15k hours on the current cat.

Settings were thermo at 4pm and fan on low, cat active, stt was only 220 deg or so. Not a blazing or ripping fire.

I requested a replacement cat from the dealer 2 months ago, they are not very responsive on BK products and they push Regency stoves.

My guess is that my cat is nearing its death. Should I push thru this year or try and change it in the next month or so?

There may be no water that was put in the firebox,.but you're producing a lot when you burn..

I do think it's smoke tho, as it doesn't dissolve in the air,.it just dilutes. And the age of the cat is not crazy for it dying.
Is it consistently showing this, or off and on?

Have you looked at the combustor? Maybe it needs to be cleaned? There is a large maintenance section in your manual.

* FYI
Limited Six (6) Year Warranty: The CATALYTIC COMBUSTOR is under warranty by Blaze King for six (6) years from the date of original retail purchase. The purchaser shall pay the following share of the then current retail price for the combustor: The first three (3) years no charge, 4th year 60%; 5th year 70%, 6th year 80%. The Combustor must be returned to your dealer along with a completed COMBUSTOR FAILURE REPORT and original proof of purchase document.

If it does it through the entirety of the burn it’s shot but if it’s on and off it could be the stat opening and taking a couple minutes to handle the smoke. I’ll get a little haze on occasion throughout a burn cycle as well but it clears up. How far into the active zone was the gauge?
