there is smoke coming from round circle on bottom of stove, any help would be great..

Coming from the air intake hole? We're going to need a bit more information. Did this just start now, but had been running without a problem, or is this a new install?

Problems with smoking this time of year are almost always caused by a clogged chimney cap. Can you see the cap from the ground?

The chimney is the first thing to check. When was it last cleaned? If the chimney and cap have recently been cleaned the next possibility, though less common would be a puff-back. That would be intermittent or a one time occurrence.

for about a week or so,seems to only happen when first starting the fire.i cleaned the chimney at the begining of season but not the cap. the cap does look a little black.thanks for responding back..

this is my fourth season, and the first time its happened over the years.always cleaned it from the blowout plug at the bottom of outside doubled wall chimney..

This has been a particularly rough winter with very cold temps that have caused more creosote condensation than normal, especially in chimneys with a lot of outdoor exposure. Clean the chimney and cap and the Oslo should be happy again.

begreen is probably right, a good cleaning will most likely fix the problem.

From cold start, could be reverse draft. But definitely give it a cleaning.

up date went up on the roof today and yes begreen the cap was clogged up.so i cleaned the cap and the chimney again, which was not that dirty.I will fire it up tonight and will get back, and will keep a check on that cap for now on thanks ill get back steve...

I think you will find Oslo will be burning well now. Good to hear it was just the cap. If legal, you might want to consider removing the cap screen for the winter and put it back in for spring/summer to keep the birds out.

If the cap screen has smaller diameter openings, consider replacing the screen with larger openings.

Even the larger screens are clogging up this year! I just went to a Kozy 231 with a clogged cap, flue was pretty clean. It's a strange year!

I know some of yous guys like to remove the screen. I just can't get myself to do it. I just replaced my rotted one, with new. I have not had any problems with cloggage. well except for the first year with not so dry wood.
My mother had some wire screen from her garden left over, and it was same size as what I had, so I just made a new screen.
Next time just for shitz and giggles, I might try 3/4" openings.

My cap is rectangular with the 3/4" diamond expanded metal screen. Just went up, now that I can actually see the roof again, and it is coated with hard creo but far from clogged. That cold wind blowing through it just coats the stuff on. All the way to the top of the liner was just a dusting of soot. And then the stuff hits that air cooled cap. The funny thing is that I will leave it till Fall and rain will have washed it clean by then. Always does.

Sixty-three and sunny. I felt like laying down on the roof and working on my tan.

i put the screen on about two years ago, because a bird came down chimney and was stuck in my stove. wife was going nuts..i used a piece of stucco sreen to make it about quarter inch holes.ill just check on it more often, now that im aware of problem. going to fire it up about a hour thanks..

There's your problem. The holes must be a minimum of 3/8" by code, still not enough though. 3/4" is best, it's standard on most liner caps but not on class A caps.

IIRC DuraVent caps have a 1/2" screen. That's too fine. A year back when I had the damp load of maple it clogged up pretty quickly.
