Can someone explain the feed adjuster to me in the clockwise and counter clockwise turning of the do dad.

You should be able to find your manual here:

For any of them I've seen you turn clockwise all the way 'in' for the maximize feed rate and then unscrew counter clockwise a certain number of turns so that there is a couple inches of ash between the burning coal and the end of the burn plate.

For instance on my KAA-2 I back off 12 turns normally.
