Hi all,

Here's a strange little quirk that has sprung up. Wonder if anyone has seen this, yet.

This summer I took apart the 6' stretch of twisty interior double-wall pipe to clean it. Upon reassembly, I re-inserted my round probe thermometer back into the pipe, in the same hole it's been in for 5 years, about 18" up the pipe from the top of the stove.

Well... the thing has a mind of its own now, and constantly rotates counterclockwise! I can't keep the thing stationary. I'll set it to the proper rotation, and with a day, it's rotated about 2 hrs counterclockwise.

Anyone experience anything like this before? Any remedies, other than... glue, etc.? Might be possessed...

That same hole is now not quite the same hole. So either plug the hole and start a new one or suck it up, lol. If it aint broke, don't fix it. Just laughing at your slight misfortune, sorry, lol.

small dab of high temp silicone to hold it in place?

Happens to holes of all kinds with the ravages of time and use.

Have you tried getting it to do some kegels?

HA!

It is kind of funny, though.

I did ask my wife to do kegels yesterday when she was complaining that she had to pee on a long trip. She wasn't amused.

Probably should just put some silicone on there. Just seems odd, since nothing has really changed... However, there is a magnet that the rod passes through which holds the thermometer to the pipe... Hmmm....

Thanks for your thoughts.

Check to make sure that you have the little metal ferule in place correctly. My thermometer rotated because I had put it back in incorrectly. I had the eyelet in the magnet instead of in the pipe.

Mines only 2 months old and now that I read your post I realize that it slowly rotates counter clockwise. Couldn't figure why I kept having to straighten it out but now that I know there is magic at play, it all makes sense. Thanks.

Same here, counter clockwise.......
