I did manage to go 48 hours without a fire . . . but I'm back to the twice daily fires now . . . and with this weather heading this way it may be back to burning more regularly.
Looks like the stove will be called back into duty!

Had to start burning again also. Lit a fire in the stove on Thursday to take the cold and dampness out of the basement. Friday night I turned the stove down to zero and added wood and cardboard to the stove in case my wife wanted me to start it. Went down about 2 hours later to a stove top at 550. Must have been a hot coal left that got it going. This kinda suprised me since I turned the air down.
Today's high was 50 degrees this morning around 10:00AM. It's all down hill from here to about 30 degrees at 6:00PM and in the teens overnight. Time to go get some good stuff in the pile for a full load tonight. Looking at the 5 day weather, we are going to be around or below 32 during the overnight.

Had to break down and start the liberty up again this morning. It was 70 in here, 53 outside, and the wind blowing 30 MPH, but a toasty 83 in here now Supposted to get down to 26 tonight so I guess I'll keep it going all day and night.
It was 51 degrees today when I woke up at 4 am and now it is 38 degrees and very windy. Going down to high teens tonite with a "hard freeze" predicted from the weather channel. I could not wait to get home to fire up the 30.

Started a fire Sunday morning. It was about 65 in the house and damp. That kept it nice all day and night. I made sure to leave enough wood and kindling for Mrs. Flatbedford to light up tonight for the forecast 25 tonight. We'll probably be burning overnight most of this week. Nice to have the stove going again after a week or so off. At least I won't have to haul the front porch wood back down to the stacks. As warm is it has been, I know that the stove can be called into service until May of need be.
Yeah 1st fire last night in what's seems like 3 weeks. Cherry smells so good!

I came home from work today to find the wife had a nice warm fire going. This is the second time she started a fire this Winter. I guess she's a keeper.

I built a fire Friday, so all my wife had to do was light it when I was gone to work Saturday. She lit it Saturday night, but left it burning on 2 all night. That's about right when it's 20 outside. When I got home at noon yesterday, it was 78 in the house. I turned it down all the way, but with low 70s outside yesterday it was 80 in the house when we got home last night. I opened up a bunch of windows and slept with a window fan going all night. We had 66 when we got up this morning, which I can work with. Back up to 72 in no time, and comfy all day. She's learning the shoulder season now, since we started burning it in December.
Moved the office upstairs a few years ago. Just tired of messing with wimpy little stoves or the pellet puppy down there. Wanted some firepower and the price was more than right. I will cook off the pellets I have stashed down there with the basket in the 30. I will leave the "zipper" in this one for now and let it blow torch right into the front of the pellet basket. That and the monster draft of that 33 ft. chimney should work like a champ.
Yep, cool here today, not cold but cool. House is 66 so I fired up the little one. Feels gooooooooooood

I cut the grass om Sunday after I started a fire to warm up the house. It was 80 last week and forecast to be 25 tonight. I haven't loaded my wood rack since mid February.
Yep. Woodburner's hell time. Fifty outside but I am firing the 30 for the first time in weeks since the dive to the twenties around three o'clock is coming up. It will be too warm in here for a while and chilly at sunup. Quick warm up fire in the morning because we won't get out of the fifties.
i knew i should have waited to relined my flue this year , i ran out of the pour in insulation . oh well the heat pump will this have to kick in

We just have wood stoves because they look cool.
We'll be burning well into June. Not every day but most days. I'm not trying to save wood and when it is less than 70 degrees outside then it is less than 70 degrees inside so we choose to burn. No other heat source and we don't want to suffer. Burn season is 9 months per year.

the warm weather has really got a lot of the farmers worried now that its cold again. people are so happy about the warm weather but don't realize that its not good.
A couple of nights of hard freezes here and those bugs that sprouted the last two weeks are history for the Summer. Well, except the ones staying warm in the woodpile.
God i hope so. i went out climbing on friday. and the skeeters were as bad as they are in july. going to be brutal unless we get some cold weather.
I lit the stove this morning for the first time in a couple of weeks. Weatherman says it might be in the upper teens here tonight, which is a perfectly normal winter nighttime temperature but a shock after nights in the 40s and 50s for the past couple of weeks.
I Got up at 4 this morning and turned on the valve to the radiators so the house would be warm for the kids to get around for school. Been doing a fire every three days for DHW. Looks like I will be doing a fire every day for the next couple days. I run the air a few days last week.
I ain't happy. Dropped a eighty footer three years ago that was dead and the only one like it on the whole five acres. Rounds were sopping wet and weighed a ton. Figured they would be like poplar and dry to to paper. Been burning then this year and tonight three of the big splits are doing it again. Prettiest E/W burn I have ever seen in the 30 and from experience I know they will keep it hot all night with copious coals in the morning.
And I will never have a clue what that tree was. But I know that I could heat this joint on two cords of it a year.
