I experienced this when putting the metal roof on my shed. The clutch setting alone won't get the right compression on the washers

Guess it depends on the drill... mine (a 14.4V Rigid drill/driver) worked quite well, except on the ridge cap overlaps that had to be predrilled anyway.

No drill can compensate for the different torques required in different density wood (think knot versus non-knot).
