My answer to the envy of your pretty stacks!

Mine isn't as tenth a pretty stack as all of yours. I figure I'm up close to 20 cords now. I bet I can move it ALL in under an hour though.. can you pretty stack guys to that.. without touching the wood?



I really would like to make some of those cool looking fences, and towers some of you guys have. For now.. It's all function over form though.

Close.. I got up onto my 45' box trailer that I use as storage till I build the barn, and where I make my biodiesel. I got rid of my solar hot water coil up there, as I went to a dry wash system this year. Pump the fuel thru a wood chip mixture.. and it cleans the fuel. WOOD! It's everywhere!

I am blessed with space. Soon it will be time to reorganize everything planning for having to plow snow around and still get to the implements and stuff I need to. This time of year I can get away with driving trucks and tractors about anywhere you see. In spring time.. it's gravel areas only.

I think I'm taking all of your lessons to heart. I really don't know what I'll burn this year... being my first winter with the Vigas. I do know that I don't have anywhere near too much wood yet!

I hear you about snow and then the mud in spring. We are blessed where we live now as it is all sand so we don't have to deal with much mud. Some winters we don't even have to deal with snow! I think I pushed snow around only 3 times last winter.

You gotta remember that with each U there's 8 to 10 inches of unused space. At BEST there's a third of a cord. In the beginning I was hanging the wood over and I was close to 50 deep.. but even then the middle wasn't stuffed full, full.

I bet there's 3 cord of pure hemlock from Irene. That'll burn fast. I'm still cutting! I'd be happier being about 30 to 40 cord. It's all a guess till I get burning. I'm heating a lot of floor space.

20 cords doesn't have to look pretty.

It's like a huge truck, they don't have to look pretty.

Size alone is enough..... I'm impressed

The seat swivels 20 degrees or so.

The blower is only for the last 300 feet of the drive that are paved... around the house. The other half mile is done going forwards with the power angle plow on the loader. If there is less than a foot.. I will often times plow the majority of the paved part.. then just blow the banks away. It works really well. Previously I had a F650 with a 10 foot plow. This is 100 times faster. You can change direction so fast with the hydrostatic on the tractor.. and stack the snow right up using the plow on front. Very handy.

Depends on the model. Yes, it is super practical. My ditches don't drop off real steep.. So I can have the plow at a level about a foot or so off the ground... and just straddle the snowbank and drive right along "winging" back the banks.

About the only thing you have to do is remember to CLOSE the door. My dad comes up to play/plow when I am away on trips. He got the door his first time out. Hooked it on my snowmobile, and POW! I'm still picking up little pieces of glass in the garage.
