Hello all! I am new to this forum. My wife and I just did a remodel at our house and I had the contractor re-due the front of the fireplace and mantel. I'm hoping this is the right spot to post this question.

Now my wife wants to fill the bottom with glass for the modern fireplace look. I want to do this myself but I don't have many ideas. Plus, I think I need to install something at the bottom of the fireplace towards the front to hold in the glass, I'm just not sure what.

Can anyone help me figure out how to finish this fireplace?

Thanks!

Corey

Could you be more specific as to what you are referring to as the "bottom"?

The bottom floor of the fireplace. Wife wants to fill with glass pieces. But if that is done then it would spill out of the front, so I would need something at the front of the fireplace floor to hold in the glass.

Do you mean the hearth in front of the fireplace?

Cut some black edging tiles and put them on the front to hold the glass in the fireplace under the logs.

My idea would be also to use some slate like this across the width of the fireplace, the weight might just hold it in place or some adhesive.

Oh I see. So actually slate over the brick in the fireplace, then like in the picture just some rising pieces to edge it out. That makes sense. Would I be able to use the same type of marble like I did for the front, or is marble in the fireplace ill-advised?
