New to blaze king 40 and princess

We just upgraded to blaze kings from a more "traditional" wood stove. So my questions are typical for someone like my.

We have a BK40 on our main floor and a Princess in the basement. Both catalyst stoves.

1) Can you overheat the catalyst? I try not not to let the temp get beyond the end of the Active zone thinking I'll damage or crack the catalyst. Is that a valid concern? Or did they just run out of real estate on the dial, and had to end the zone somewhere?

2) I understaffed the creosote buildup on the glass is normal, correct? As long a the catalyst temp is well in the active zone, is my chimney staying clean?

With a new cat stove the catalyst will be a little hyper active for the first 100 hours or so, so expect your cat temp to be a little on the high side. Your stoves are also equipped with a built in thermostat that should keep you from overdrafting or overfiring unless you have a very tall chimney.

Blaze Kings are notorious for glass build up as well as creosote build up in the fire box but if everything is working as should and your burning dry wood your chimney should be fine. Burning hot once in awhile helps reduce the build up on the glass and firebox.

Indeed. I almost exclusively burn low'n'slow, and we did our annual chimney cleaning yesterday. Maybe 1-2 cups of creosote came out of the stack, if that.
