the last 2 pics are beech.. similar BTUs as oak.. on the lower end ,and will dry in a yearNever heard of a copper beech. Googled it. Beautiful tree!
On my screen these look like poplar. They have a green tinge.Wood left behind by power line crew last year (summer 2021) and located in public land. A smaller log is measuring 26% at ~50F. I think they are red oak and ash (based on leaves). Only accessible through a hiking trail, about 200yds away from property, 300yds away from wood stacking area...
Goal is to bring these back home, one at a time, as morning work out.. deadline for myself: 2/12/2022.

You are correct sir, these do have the green tinge. Could any other trees have the green tinge? I initially discounted poplar due to 1) mostly oak, ash, and birch leaves in area, and 2) Poplar isn't native to Connecticut (https://ctpa.org/connecticuts-native-trees/).On my screen these look like poplar. They have a green tinge.
Oh wow. Do you plan to solar kiln these woods or natural dry?So this is what i got total in a total of 10 hours work.. I went from no wood to approximately 5.5 cords

Iv burned beech in the past, its a good wood. Almost oak BTUs but will season in about a year. I fined it to be a little ashey. Splits like any other wood.. not difficult.. not stringy.. I like it and will take it any chance I get.Nice Love "The Beast". How is that beech to split?
I actually season all my wood in wood sheds. I do have 3 racks now under a roof that hold about 2.5 cords that I just added this past summe4. I did the kilns as an experiment, just to see if I could do it and what results I could get. Once I split and fill up what iv burned this year Ill be sitting on 14 cords CSS.. heres a pic of one of 3 sheds that I haveOh wow. Do you plan to solar kiln these woods or natural dry?
