Winter is coming. And my head was spinning with all the different wood stove inserts. I finally pulled the trigger on a Kodiak 1700 insert. Anyone here own that insert that I can pick their brain? I'm looking for a good overnight burn, for a big room, with a hot surface top with just enough room to take a kettle or percolator and that will work well in a blackout.....

Thanks

I have not read any bad word about the Enviro stoves here and with a 2.5 cu ft firebox you should easily get an overnight burn.

How is your wood supply? As any modern stove it needs dry wood to perform well and heat your home.

Yes we're pretty much set on the seasoned hardwood. I'm pretty optimistic about my supply. Just curious about my clearance on top for a kettle. Sounds like a silly thing but I want to able to make tea or coffee in a blackout

the top lip on the Enviro Kodiak insert is just under 8". Should be no problem keeping a smaller kettle or pot on top.

That is a fine insert, very nicely made. I think you'll be a happy camper.

Awesome, was hoping there'd be other Kodiak owners here. Loving all the feedback.

There coming to install it Thursday. Will post a pic of my my set up once it's all done. I have a large hearth along a stone wall in my living room. Can't wait to stage this puppy for a super cozy picture perfect living space.

I have the 1200 FS; This will be my 3rd season on it. So far so good. I was new to wood burning when I got it so I can't compare to anything else; well other than the VC Resolute Acclaim that I replaced because it needed a rebuild.

Kodiak owner here but just installed last week so cant give much feedback.. I did a lot of research and the Kodiak 1700 came out on top in my price range. Overnight burns was one of the things on my list as well as a trouble free unit.
