Was vacuuming out the stove today and took my hand off the stove for a bit and and went to move off my knees and put my hand on the stove again and got one hell of a shock from the static electricity. actually saw a blue spark.

Supposed to be in the 30's to night so I got the stove going. Started right up even with the MWP's that have been sitting in the stove since April.

Are you sure it wasn't the Vandegraft(sp) effect? Just kidding. It is still pretty moist here but is just starting to get cold. I have been burning the stove off and on for the last week or two but just started my first bag of Cleanfire and am anxious to see how they burn.

Been running the stove at night for the last 2 or 3 weeks...gets nippley at night!

Was talking to a friend last spring whose wife was vacuuming the stove and after she was done, it wouldn't run... long story short, they had to replace the main circuit board. I asked if the stove was plugged in or not when she was vacuuming it. She said she always unplugged the stove before vacuuming. I suggested that she keep it plugged in next time to make sure the ground was connected. Is it possible that the static created by the moving air of the vacuum caused high voltage static and fried their main board? (Sorry can't remember the make of their stove). ....... CC

We try and not start the stove or the furnace until Nov 1st but it usually never happens. Someone always complains that it's too cold in the house (usually me)and we start the stove.

What's funny this year is that I'm very unprepared almost no oil in the tank and no pellets in the basement. Just hope'n that the price will go down before I stock up :lol:

My stove was pluged in and I usually keep a hand on the stove to ground myself but spaced it this time :bug:

most likely static was caused by the air going through the vacuum and hose. airplanes have this problem just from flying through air, Helicopters can build up a charge strong enough to kill a man if he is the path to ground.
