Shop Vac for PH Clean

Looking to purchase a mini shop vac for a number of jobs one of which will be cleaning my progress hybrid. Last year I did this with my full size shop vac and it didn't work well. Getting the large nozzles into the smal crevices underneath the cook top towards the back was exceptionally difficult.

Does anyone have a favorite vac for cleaning their PH stove that they would recommend?

Well it's not a Shop Vac and I don't have a PH . . . but the Cheetah Ash Vac has been a good vacuum for me. Came with a crevice tool and I think a dust attachment. Only two drawbacks are the expense and noise.

My wife picked up a PowerSmith this Fall after I used her house vac one too many times. It will reach between the rear fins inside the PH, but no room to really maneuver once in there. It comes with a small brush that sits at an angle to the pipe, which is handy for brushing inside the stove and for the cat. I suspect its lifespan (the brush) is not great. The brush works well on the underside of the cast iron top, in between its fins.

With the cat pulled, this brush is the only way I can suck up the dust in and down (far back) behind where the cat sits. I am considering making a short nozzle with a bend in it to reach some of these places better. The taper-pointed nozzle does well at sucking ash out from between the andirons and glass, but it is hard to get to the ash beyond the second andiron due again to the angles involved.

The hose is barely adequate in length for the PH, especially if the stove is up on a narrow raised hearth. I've tipped the vacuum over a few times while trying to reach those hard-to-get places like down in behind the cat.

No real complaints about the vacuum's construction. Nice long power cord.
