Should I buy this wood?

This is my first year burning wood and I am concerned that I don't have enough wood to last until the spring. I called a local landscape company that sells firewood and they are all out of seasoned wood. They said they had kiln dried wood available. They say it is dried for 15 hours, and will cost me $250 per cord plus $30 delivery.
Does 15 hours make for kiln dried wood? Do I need to move on speak and look elswhere and try other dealers? There are so many bad firewood dealers around it's hard to tell.

$250 for kiln dried sounds good to me. Don't know enough about kiln drying to say how long needs to be in there to dry it to under 20%.

if its truly dry to under 20% that sounds like a great deal to me. i would certainly check it before payment! make sure its decent btu wood too though. maybe buy 2 and see if they will waive the delivery fee. bio bricks here are about 250 a pallet (equlivelent to a cord), just another option.

Kiln dried firewood is firewood that has been dried out, for some unknown period of time at some unknown temperature, in a kiln. It is a term without a firm definition, and with no legal standing. Kilns used for kiln drying can be set to lots of different temperatures and they can dry wood out a little, or a lot, and still label the wood kiln dried.

Putting energy into drying firewood so that you can burn it to save energy raises questions. ie cost ( to somebody)

Is it a full cord or face cord? ad how dry is it?

$250 for dry FULL cord is a good deal

Ask them what the moisture content % is.... if 20% or below, buy two if they'll waive the delivery fee.

I though "Kiln dried" was to mostly rid the wood of bugs ??

Tell the dealer that you will randomly pull 4 or 5 pieces from the load he brings, re-split it in front of him and check it with a moisture meter and if the readings average above 20% moisture content you will not accept the load. If it really is kiln dried he should have enough confidence in his product to accept you offer. If he doesn't accept; find another dealer.
