Your stove is set up to burn coal. But you are burning wood. It would work much better if it were set up for use with wood. I have had many customers burn wood in stoves set up like yours and it never works as well as it should.

I finished this a few weeks ago and then decided I needed the lean to for my splitter.

The wood shed for the next heating season will be built from full totes around the outside of the wood pad and loose piled stuff inside. Should hold 24-26 cord when full depending how tightly it piles.

Put this shed together over the past few weeks. This will be used to store the firewood for the current burning season. It replaces the wood I used to store under our deck. Last summer my wife encountered a rattle snake on the deck so we made the decision to not store wood under there anymore.

This was built from pallets that I acquired from a local solar panel company. The pallets are made out of 2x6s, really heavy/sturdy.

Each bay holds about 2 1/4 cord. So all together it will hold just about 6 3/4 cords.

I wanted to try using natural round wood forks, so I built this 2 cord woodrack. The posts are yellow birch with linseed oil. There are cables in pipes below the rails, tensioned up to the posts, so loading wood weights it down. The pitch is only 10%; I was constrained by the location.

8 Garden blocks
4 16x16 pavers
1 clear corrugated roof panel
4 8' 2x4

The only fasteners used are roofing screws with gaskets to attach the roof panel to the 2x4s.
I haven't had a fierce wind yet. This one is protected by a pine tree from the prevailing wind but still I am wondering if the ends will flail in the wind. Maybe the roof corner could be attached by cable to the 2x4?

I think it's great. I like the base design. It's easy to start adding on. I'm not sure how the roof will hold up and I'd hate for that panel to get damaged by wind or snow. If you were to add 2 more 8ft 2x4's across the top, and another cut in half as a tie at the end, plus another cut in half for 2 center supports. Then if you can get 4 pieces of the filler gasket you could use more long screws/washers to secure it. I know it's like a snowball project it keeps building up. Snow load should not be a problem if you are around to clean it off.

OK, I guess I was over engineering it. Later I thought well once he has the wood in it, he can bungie cord the top to the wood. Not so great for using the pile, but good for drying it when you are leaving the wood alone.

Looking good! I like the plywood that runs up the support post to hold all that primo wood. You can't beat a good covered wood shed.

Burn ~6 cords/year in early 90s catalytic BK. I heat upper 2 floors of Lindal cedar house (1150 sq ft/floor) with nice southern exposure looking onto Turnagain Arm and migratory bird refuge.
