Good morning Hearth.com,

I was performing some pre-season checks on my Sirocco 25 insert that was installed last year, and noticed the combustor gasket was shot, whether it was that way from the installation last year or the chimney sweep this year I'm not sure. Either way, I pulled the combustor out, gently cleaned it with a vacuum, and reinstalled the gasket per the manual instructions. When I slid the combustor back in, I notice a slight gap on one side. The manual states that the gasket will swell to provide a tight seal, but I'm now wondering if my combustor housing is missing retaining clips. I watched a few Blaze King videos and noticed that some other stoves have these clips (6:12 in this video

Could anyone with a Sirocco 25 check to see if they have these clips on the side of their combustor?
Thanks!

The stainless steel clips that you refer to are to retain the bypass plate on the freestanders. They are ultra thin and would not do much for gap filling on the sides. I don't know if that S25 insert ever came with them, your catalyst has ears that are not present on the frestanding cat so I'm thinking that the entire combustion package is different.

Looks like something already melted below the cat.

I wouldn't worry about a little gap though. Sure, a tiny bit of smoke might leak through but it's not a big deal like a leaking door gasket.

No clips are shown in the parts diagram but it looks like your cat is upside down, not sure if that matters.

Then on page 32 they show the clips that you are asking about and to be sure to replace them. So it looks like your clips are missing.

I am super jealous of the replaceable bypass gasket retainer assembly. Mine are welded in and are damaged.

Great find, thank you. Page 31 step 3 states that "The combustor has a metal tab across the bottom and on each side of the combustor" so I'm thinking the cat is oriented correctly, but you're right that on the parts breakout on page 45 they have the tabs on the top.

I might just buy these clips and see if they fit. Worse case scenario I'm out $30
