Speeco 2 stage pump help.

Well I finally found time to pull the old pump today and discovered the love joy coupler and mounting bracket do not fit the new pump. I purchased the new pump via ebay and go figure still in plastic unused BUT NO DIRECTIONS. I contacted SpeeCo and they have not responded yet ( 3 emails in 2 weeks 4 calls no answer ). Do any of you have one of these pumps ? What size love joy coupler did you use ? Where can I get a mounting bracket for it as well ? I could fab one up if I need to but time is an issue right now. ( Edit ) I can drill mounting holes in this bracket so thats solved.

Hard to tell from pictures

You need the diameter of the shaft on the engine & pump.
Then get a matching love joy coupler body the right diameter . (broken link removed) has them

Head over to a hydraulic/hose shop and they should have what you need. Or I'd bet McMaster Carr does.

I don't deal with Grainger. I've never seen anything they sell that isn't ridiculously overpriced, sometimes 2-3x the cost of buying same item elsewhere.

I need to know the shaft distances required when coupled. They usually have a specific requirment. I have never heard of McMaster Carr ill check them out.

Ya I did it works really nice however the pump is single stage so time for an upgrade. It is not vertical but I am going to weld a lift table and attach a winch to it. Very much like Jags has on his.

No kidding. The print catalog is like 4" thick! Ive bought stuff that everyone locally said "didn't"
exist! Their pricing is usually good and the shipping isn't bad either (not so common for Alsska)

Pete - you should only have to replace one half of that coupler. The pump half. There are basically two sizes of lovejoys (based off of HP ratings) and then the shaft size. In other words...If you have the small coupler - then buy the other half of the "small" size to fit the pump shaft. The coupler should be able to slide back and forth to adjust for the proper fit.

The bolt pattern for the pump is standard and should not require drilling. A new suction line will be needed because of the barbed fitting on the pump.Two different shaft sizes are used with that size pump either 7/16" or 1/2". Most farm supply stores will carry them.

Amen ,on Grainger being ridiculously overpriced, only bought one thing from them ,a limit switch, but picked it up at the store

Grainger pricing gets better the more you buy but if you only order occasionally, I can do better in a local hardware store.

I thought that would be the case but the holes don't line up. I am gonna try farm and home this weekend they have more than TSC usually. Thanks for the heads up on the line I noticed that too but haven't really had time to look at it beyond that.
