Hi, I am installing a 'new' woodstove with a 6" flu pipe and will run 6" pipe to the ceiling, and then use an adapter to increase the diameter to 8" triple wall. Can I improve the draft by running 6" pipe all the way to the chimney cap? Thanks!

How tall is it?

I'd try it anyway. If it doesn't work, you're only out the cost of an adapter.

How many feet of chimney does the manual say you need for your new stove? Sounds like you are right around or below the minimum height for most stoves.

If it were me I would try running it with the 6" to 8" adapter and see what kind of draft you get first, then line with 6" if it does not draft correctly.
