Sounds naughty but it's about stove pipes. If this thing will accept an 8" straight (non-crimped) pipe on the inside , then my problems would be solved. In other words, do you think the opening is slightly larger than 8"?

Product Details for the Heat-Fab 2628B

Saf-T Pipe is made from 22-gauge cold-rolled steel, which is up to 60% thicker than pipe sold in mass-market stores. With an invisible seam, finished with high-quality silicone-based black stove paint, it looks as smart as it performs.

Technical Specifications:
Single-wall.
6"– 8" diameters.
Tapered male and female ends.
22 gauge cold-roll steel

Edit:Or maybe this one? Says "slip fit"

It looks like the wide end is stepped to take either straight or tapered pipe. Stainless steel.
