I have not had a fire in three weeks or more. I hate that I had to quite so early this year, but it has been really warm here. I kept thinking I would get to have atleast one more but I think it is all over for us down here.

I left a little bit in the rack on the back porch. Long range looks like I might get to burn it up towards Easter. Overall, I have a really hard time keeping up with how much I burn. But I know it was by far the least amount since I started burning over 10 years ago.
Only burned about 2 cords. I am not done for the year.We usually burn into late April or early May.

First full winter with the insert plus the wife and kids were home all day (home school)
Still burning last of ~2.5 cord of pine plus 1 cord mixed oak/maple
Stove goes cold once a month to run the soot eater up the liner otherwise it has been cranking since October

We burned a couple small morning fires about a week ago when it was cool and damp. This week Mama wants me to fire up the AC.
We've been using the attic fan to cool the house the last couple nights. It was a muggy 76 degrees in the house last night. Ran the attic fan from 10pm to midnight on low and cooled the house to 69 degrees which required more than a sheet to sleep.
Still burning . . . yesterday and today was cold and gray . . . got a dusting of snow up here last night/this morning . . . as usual, folks have forgotten how to drive in the snow.

Feeling the Heat
Burned almost nothing in Nov., not a great bit in Dec. Pretty heavy in Jan. and Feb. and again almost nothing in March. By far the warmest winter. However, surprising I think I have burned at least 50 to 60 percent of what I normally burn. But the house has been kept much warmer on many of the days I burned. (75 to 80). Still alot of dust too.Ha! Ha!

Be lucky to have burned 2 cords so far,but this winter is weird,earlier in the week had the ac on,tonight I started a fire no way i'll burn more than 2 cords when it's all said and done. I think.
I have a fire going now and an inch of fresh snow outside. They are calling for two to four inches.

So far I am around 2 to 2.5 cords for the year. Normal with the old stove was 3.5 to 4 cords so I am way ahead...
I did not have a fire for nearly the last 3 weeks but I did burn one the past 2 nights. It is supossed to snow a bit tonight so a few more fires are likely. we are off to Miami for Easter so there's a week with no fires, I will probably be moving wood back out to the shed from the porch before it's all said and done. That means my dry wood for next year is already stacked, 2013 wood is split and ready to get stacked...

The snow has all melted away once again and no fire since Saturday night. They're calling for rain this evening so I may have a small fire to take the damp and chill off. Might see about a burn permit too, for the brush pile if they lifted the ban. 10 km/h North winds should keep the smoke and ashes away from the house.
In the thirties here for the last few nights, and the upcoming night. I start one around nine at night and burn it down. Days are so nice in the sixties with sun that I have started splitting and stacking the 2014/2015 oak. I hope to have 15/16 on the stacks by the end of May.

In 2010 we had to tear down the brick chimney as it was pulling down the house. One thing led to another and we ended up overhauling the entire house. By the time I got around to installing the new stove it was December 2011 and I missed out on two months when I really could have used it this season. Even so, I went through about 2-2.5 cords of cottonwood, elm and silver maple and we are pretty close to the end of the season.
We had an abnormally warm March. Last season we used over 1500 gallons of propane. It's a good reminder of why I burn wood. I'm looking forward to next season to find out what my stove will do, how much draft I sealed up and how well the heat will circulate around the house. My boys stacked 5 cords of splits in the woodshed and we are all anxious for next year. What a crew they are!

Second year with the insert. Last year was a partial year (installed early dec) and burned almost 3 cords of mixed hardwood last year with about 450 gal of oil. This year I have burned about 2 cords of mixed hardwood and just shy of 1 cord of pine plus only 220 gals of oil delivered and have been burning since oct.
Still 1-2ft of snow here, though it's melting. Driveway is mostly down to pavement even!

Burning Hunk
I gotta smile with pride. I had just gotten it split a couple days prior and the forecast was for rain. The deal was they HAD to get it into the shed and there WOULD be a cooperative effort. I came home from work and I helped them finish up just the small pile that remained, in just a few hours. There was no blood, no tears and they were actually getting along. Boys will be boys, but that day I had a lot to be thankful for. Blessings come in small packages.
Somewhere in this place there's a thread asking how much a crew can cut, split and stack in a day. Now that I have an idea I'll hunt it down and post it.
I burnt 6 ricks this year. Thats 4' x 8' x 18" , 6 of them.
You burned 6 Ricks in your stove? Poor guys...
Here in OryGun you cannot legally sell face cords (or ricks), though I suppose you can burn them legally.
I have been ignoring this thread since it came up a few weeks ago. I knew I wasn't done then, and I'm still not done now. It was about 30 this morning, but it was over 70 last week. I don't consider the stove done until May. I have burned less than 3 cords so far this season, down from just over 4 last year.
