Cold winter isn’t going to keep them down in New England. I read where they will be fine due to hibernating under the snowpack.

Old trick.....when coming in from being in fields and woods, put yourclothes in the dryer for 15mins on high.

Bake em crispy.

I tuck my socks into my shoes, my cuffs into my socks, and my shirt into my pants, but they are all treated with Permethrin. I once walked into a tick nest and they were all hovering on my shoes not knowing what to do. The larger ticks have made it to my thighs and waste but they seem too exhausted to do much of anything. Also, if you use a crutch, cane, or walking stick, treat those also.

I have Lyme's. If you contracted it it, within a few days you will notice a red and purple "target" around the bite and you will develop flu-like symptoms. If that happens, get to a Doc's ASAP. They can stop most of the symptoms from being a lifelong issue, but I still have a burning nerve pain where I was bit. It's like someone stabbed me with a fork and twisted it.
I've had it as well (near you--West Rockhill).

This area is loaded with ticks. I'm surprised I haven't had it before.

I'm usually pretty thorough with checking myself, and am the poster child for ADHD. I have come home from my shop years ago (Hatfield off of Bergey Rd.) taken a shower, changed, then woken up from a sound sleep because I felt something crawling on me at 3AM, and it ended up being a tick. This happened several times.

Yet, a few years ago, my left ass cheek was sore for a couple of days (figured I smacked myself somehow, as is typical), and a shortly afterwards, I found bullseyes all over my body (it had already gone systemic at that point).

I always just kind of laughed off people who complained that they had gotten Lyme's Disease (as unless it's stomach flu, I'm pretty tolerant of pain/sickness), but DAMN if that didn't feel like someone beat my body with a baseball bat for the 2-3 weeks it took to recover from it.

I now send any tick I find on me, my wife, or our dogs out to get tested (free in PA), and no longer brush off the threat of getting that again.

Lesson learned.
