I look out the window and see piles of logs waiting to be split, sitting in front of piles of splits waiting to be stacked. There is at least 8 cords on the ground needing my attention. I think I will leave it for Jan/Feb when the dulldrums of winter set in. I think part of the lack of enthusiasm is due to the fact that there is so much wood on the ground from Sandy that I am constantly thinking of processing wood. Oh well, time to get over to the neighbors to see if I can take the huge white oak that lays on their property....
Well it finally happened, I am sick of firewood!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ehhh. Take a few days off from processing if you have to. Then wait until you have a day off from the "real" job. And don't do anything. Have a cold one, or four, and then wait another few days. Then you will be jonesing to get back at it. Or... Oh. You were being sacrcastic weren't you.

Then you go out & get some white oak. (not a sign of addiction, "Proof" of wood-o-holic addiction)
I/we know the feeling, but then when I'm not able to be gathering wood for a week or so, I'm thinking about it.
Give it a couple weeks break. If you can.
& don't spend the 2 weeks thinking about how much wood you passed up or missed out on
If you can't, suck it up , realize you have a problem & go get that wood. Snow is coming soon . LOL
Problem is you gotta get while the get'n is good.
But a break now & then is a good thing.
Just take a few days/weeks, do some other projects.

No to the sick of firewood idea. Maybe, like Dave says, you just need a few days off. I've not yet gotten sick of firewood and I'm well past retirement age. Hope I never get sick of it too.

Like these other guys said just take a break and get away from it for awhile-too much of ANY kind of work can make you nuts, even processing wood which you enjoy. The GOOD thing not to overlook is that your "wood gathering/processing" radar is working just fine, but it's on OVERLOAD because of Sandy! Same thing here in Eastern PA.; there is SO MUCH free wood around it's ridiculous, but I know that I can only get and do so much so be happy with what you can do 'cause it's all good!
It's like the old story goes-if you could eat ANYTHING that you want everyday for supper what would it be? And how many days before you get sick of it and want to change....too much of anything can work against you!

......ouch! I think that was a dig......although they did beat the Ravens yesterday........ and being a Pats fan, i couldn't be happier. take the break and you'll be rearing to go in a week or two.cass

Calm down, and step away from the woodpile. You are not sick of it, you are simply overwhelmed. You will be back at it in no time. I had a lot of maple rounds from Irene, sitting at the bottom of a stack, just got to it this weekend. (MM came in at 25-27%, no surprise there. it is now restacked and awaiting 2013-2014. Or later.

!!....I can relate....right down to the neighbor with the tree in his yard.......in my case, I've been working it for past few weekends and am so tired of looking at it, I've been hitting it harder.....gotta just git-r-done
I am just the opposite. I split and stacked my last piece in March! I am dying to get back into it. There is wood everywhere from Sandy. I even have about 2 1/2 cords of Black Locust logs on my driveway. I simply don't have the room to stack any more wood on my little 1/4 acre lot. I can only split and stack to replace what I burn and that darn Fireview is so efficient that I've barely made a dent in the 13 or so stacked cords out back. I probably won't be able to get busy until after the new year. That will be 8+ months off.

That sounds logical but would take away most of the fun of scrounging.
I know exactly what you are saying man. They cut 240 acres right next to my property last summer and it is tons and tons of fire wood to get there. I have got to work as fast as I can to get it to my house where I can split and stack it. The problem is I can go on a Saturday and cut four or five truck loads of wood, but it takes me two or three weeks after work to get it finished up. All I know to do is do all I can and let the rest go.
My inspiration to cut became quite clear today. The big brown stork showed up with a spankin new 576xp in one box, and a 28 inch bar in another. I am gonna need a bigger truck...........
