Our insurance requires us to get our chimney professionally cleaned. He is coming today
I didn't have a fire last night because the stove has to be cold.
I will have a fire tonight. It supposed to be close to freezing again.

26 degrees this morning 🙄. Have enough wood inside for 1 more fire. Will be gone this weekend, but I might need to bring a little in for Monday and Tuesday nights unless I decide to just let the furnace run. Already into what was supposed to be for next season and I don't have much for after that yet. Aspen and some small cherry & birch rounds going in shortly...

Going to be some major processing going on this fall once the new storage arrangement is set up after doing a bunch of landscaping to flatten out some areas and build retaining walls (after finishing the inside trim, finishing the boardwalk from last year, running power to the pole shed, fixing the skid loader, etc, etc, etc...)

Same temperature prediction for tonight. Supposed to be raining and cold here tomorrow.
I have white pine and Hickory in the stove now.

Didn't think I'd be posting here until the fall. It was chilly after work yesterday, overnight temperatures in the upper 40s. Almost not cold enough for a fire since the furnace is running (a little bit, it references the outside temperature as well). But made one last night and this morning. It's going to be a damp day too, so I guess it's justified.

We’re burning a load of spruce here in CT as well. It’s not cold just rainy and haven’t seen the sun all day. The house was at 67 all day and this took the chill off quickly.

I have never had an oil boiler chimney cleaned. It is a 4 inch stainless liner in a 6x6 maybe 8x8 tile liner.
Never seen any build up in the liner when on the roof.

I'm my stove now is a couple of oak splits. Earlier this morning I had a half load of white pine burning.

It’s been very wet here for about a week… and more wet on the way this week, mowed all the areas I normally do and came in to requests for a fire. Again, so much more effective than elec heat and free for me as I have so much wood

Couple of cool cats hanging in the stove today, swap out getting ready for next season. Chimney swept, firebox deep clean (removed fire bricks, etc)

Seems like I needed to test out that new cat this am! Been out of town since Friday and getting home the house is 62. Rain and a high of 56 today. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Started a fire after church today. Kind of cold in the house.
We have pine and oak in the stove now.
Plenty warm now.

Well I did it - had a small fire last night. 44º outside, the furnace on low. I used up the small amount of wood I still had near the stove and couple of BioBricks. I usually have a package or two of those on hand as a backup. I think this is the latest I've ever had a fire before the fall.

Anyone else ready for the burning season? It's going to be in the 40's here tomorrow night. We had the AC on today! My 34 year old stove is getting a thorough chimney and internal cleaning tomorrow (including new firebricks).

Nope. High of 91 low of 68 today. We will probably clean the chimney in November.

I just moved about 3/4 of a cord from my driveway up to the side of the house. I've got another 3 or 4 wheel barrow loads left and then I get to stack two cords where I moved the wood from. I've built up pallet platforms to stack my wood on this year to get the wood up out of the snow a little more. But that's for another day. Tomorrow is cleaning day. I want to be prepared, but I'm not ready.

So in the spirit of the thread, nothing but ashes, creosote and broken firebricks are in my stove right now.

It was 45F on Monday AM so just for grins I set it of 3 small pcs of Burr Oak to take the chill off and push out any humidity from the soapstone. We'll have a couple days next week with 60F for a high so maybe a couple small ones then too. I filled the wood box 2 weeks ago and tarped the top of the wood I'll use this year. (3 yr old Burr Oak)

Just the annual pistachio shell collection for now. Probably won't fire up the stove for a few weeks still.

I was looking at the long range forecast and boy is it supposed to cool off suddenly! Low 40s tonight - just brought the avocado and cascade palms inside.

But we'll still be getting highs in the 60s for the foreseeable future so I'll probably just run the mini splits in heat mode and hold off on lighting the stove at least until October. I've been feeling cooked all summer so I don't need the stove cooking me out just yet.
