Same, I’m not planning to stack any substantial wood until the first frost, to keep bugs out. Right now I have about 15 dry splits sitting beside the stove, and it’s clean / vacuumed out ready to go.

I did bring in some very clean splits a few days ago. I moved about a cord from the driveway to the side of the house and today I cleaned the chimney and the inside of the stove and installed new fire bricks. I am as ready as one can be in mid September. They're calling for 47 degrees here tomorrow morning, but it's going to warm up to the mid 60's.

We've had a couple frosts this week, but the ac still runs a bit in the evenings, so haven't lit the stove yet.
Not sure how much wood I'll burn this year, with current diesel prices it's pretty much cheaper to burn natural gas instead of hauling the wood home.

Here in NJ we still probably have at least a month or so before even thinking about a fire inside.
But i have been getting some fallen oak from my rental property nearby. There is more there that needs to be yarded up the hill so that's the next wood acquisition on deck in the next week or 2. Still also need to bring some wood up to fill the wood room and hoops outside it's door, which should make enough stack room for the new oak.

It's supposed to get down to 42 overnight on Thursday - that will likely be our first fire of the year, even if it's just a little one. Cannot wait!

Yup, stove and insert all cleaned out, wood box filled, kindling tote full. All ready. Highs in the 60s all week, thinking the insert will get its first fire of the season this week.

Based on the historical weather for the Boston area it's usually around mid November before heating season officially kicks in. I don't see any temps in the ten day forecast that will have me firing up the stove.
For the near future a "warming" fire in the fire pit is most doable!
I’ve been burning small fires occasionally when I see lows forecasted in the 30’s. I don’t like waking up to a chilly cabin. 34 this morning 74 inside.

Last night was 36 for us and I've been having small fires periodically throughout the summer. This winter's wood is stacked and ready to go but I need to start working on next year's load this fall. Hopefully getting some birch to supplement my spruce next year!

Don't we all! I've got about 3+ cords ready for this year. I thought about firing up last night. We've been getting down into the 40's and of course we have the big fall nor'easter coming this weekend promising lots of rain, wind, and temps in the 40's - might necessitate a "small fire"!

I came real close to lighting a small fire this morning. It was 43 at 6am and the house was a might chilly. I have a loose door gasket that I will be gluing back into place today. If I already had that done, I will probably have lit it up. There will plenty of cool/ cold weather to come.
Thanks for the reminder, I have a new gasket on the shelf I was going to install last year but never got around to it.

Cool this morning. Small fire to take the edge off. 3 slices of oak. 44 out / 60 in. Now 45 out 65 in. Much better all ready.

So much for no fire for another month. This Nor'Easter is driving rain down my chimney so i lit a small drying fire at 2AM. Now chatting to you all since i'm up enjoying the fire. It's 58F outside so don't need the heat just the drying.

Just started a small fire in the stove this afternoon. The wife was complaining the house was cold (69F). Burned chunks for a couple hrs. House is now 73. Wife seems happy. Go Eagles

Not the stove but the firepit... Started loading up the garage storage area today from the outside stacks and collected 4 barrels of bark. This is one barrel and some miscellaneous stuff that needed to go.

Workshop heat and a stove rebuild, that's a pretty fitting way to kick off the season.
What’s up buddy! I’m thebluekj over there small world!I am pretty sure that I am.
Trying to get a radiator leak fixed and/or replaced so I can take my trailer to pick up some more firewood.
