I'm not trying to hijack this thread but I think I just got some cottonwood delivered to the house (for free) but I'm not sure. What do you look for in the grain to tell if its a Cottonwood? I was thinking it could be an Elm too but the cross section of the bark doesnt have the light/dark layers like Elm does. It also has this orangeish tint to the wood.Thanks,
