Why am I seeing an ad that says" need to impeach Trump" on this great forum?

Why? I read the "rules of posting to the Hearth.com forum back in November before I made my first post.
Rules Specifically stated "No Political Post". So are political ads OK?
If so, I want to run an ad.

The ads are supplied by Google I believe. Google usually targets its ads based on previous search data. @webfish are there any options to block political ads?

So, this site supports such anti-American political pop-up ads?

Did you read what was just posted? Ads are pushed onto the site by Google. The ads an individual sees are selected by a Google algorithm based on user search record.

FWIW, this is the first time I have heard of a political ad here.

Most times on forums like this, ads people see are based on what they have searched on their own computer. And not based on the forum or what it choses to display. Everyone likely sees some different ads based on their internet searching. Well, some the same like forum sponsors, but lots different.

Actually I don't even think it has to be your search history. Just clicking on certain sites can bring more spam of similar sites, without you having actually searched it to start with.

It's a combo of different things. Since I am logging in from Florida I could say Hearth.com now support Canadian Viagra.
:)
Years ago I was looking around for a metal cutting machine and that ad followed me everywhere for 6 months!

Google does allow various settings - both on the client end and on the admin end. That is, Hearth.com is probably not showing ads for porn or even for some other stuff. I remember back when I opted out of "weight loss" ads...just because.

But I never opted out of political ads because so many billions were being spread around (say, during a New England Gov. race, etc.) that I figured it would help to pay my bills too. There are no settings to say "hey, just run this type of political ad"....and then there is the question of what is political? Some say everything is....
Just FYI, I don't see "impeach" I see one from "conservative buzz" that is the other way around. The magic of AI.

The current Boss is very tolerant and intelligent but every publisher in the business takes the vast majority of ads that come down the pike (through google)...the only other model would be to charge people $10 a month or something and show no ads. But experience shows that any $$ charged would usually result in loss of member - and therefore valuable advice and content. Can't win.

Tell you this much. I've seen 10,000 Toyota and Honda ads (bought an Avalon Hybrid).....

Don't worry - soon Pot ads will take over everything since they may mention "smoke".

Webbie hit most of the points. Mostly your own habits dictate. Political ads have been allowed. Never a complaint during the 2016 cycle. I had to go look myself to see if it was on. It makes up .7% of all ads the last month. Here is what we block.

That covers most of the things I search for no wonder I don’t see any ads.

I kinda knew that Google ads were sometimes generated based on search history and yes, certain sites will cause ads to keep popping up. I was just really surprised to see that particular ad on here. This is a great site with what seems like good folks with many helpful discussions. Those anti-American ads just set me off.

No, on social media "offending" posts are merely deleted, offending users shadow banned, etc.
Anybody see any NRA ads lately?

I would like to know how talking bout a process laid out in our constitution is anti American? Was it anti American when people were calling for Obama to be impeached? How about when Clinton was impeached? Nixon?

Can we define what "pro American" means if the ad was "anti American"?
