Wood identification

Can anyone identify this wood.
Looks red in center when cut..
and yellow ish in middle when split.

Edit: me thinks you have a flavor of oak there.

It was,surrounded by pine trees and 1 oak..
lady said it had leaves on it..who knows tho.
doesn't GI've me a oak feeling.
does not smell like pine and not sappy..
I thought it was cherry by looking at ends.
but when I split it,it's not dark enough on inside.

Black cherry

Cherry will darken up quite a bit after being exposed to the air and sunlight for awhile. Initially it is a lighter shade.

agree, black cherry. I burn alot of it here, great shoulder season wood and excellent smell.

Yup no doubt. Got the box full of it right now. I go out every so often to get a sniff of it!

Just loaded some with hard maple.

Going with black cherry too . . . split and sniff . . . if it's cherry you might find a sweet smell.
