WoodGun E140 Alternative Heating Center Fire Brick DIY

I have an E140 woodgun, it's been great however I replace center bricks too often and looking for alternatives. Has anyone had luck with purchased firebrick "like Rutland" with drilled nozzle holes? What about self casting? I machined some 1.5" cast steel but that wore out in a couple months. Thanks

i cast my center bricks with kricon32-70 mix from i g refractories in st louis mo.i live in mo.easy to make.
