I am having an issue inserting my stove pipe to the stove. It's an 8 inch pipe and attaches to the top of the stove.. Every time I try I smash the stove pipe.. Any suggestions? I have no manual.
Thank

The crimped end should go inside the flue collar. Many older stoves had collars a bit too small for even that. In those cases, we had a technique using a hand crimper - we called it the "old mill crimp" after the brand of stove that needed it.

You need one of these to do that job:

The pipe we are using is 8 inch and it is crimped...

Understood - but it needs more of a crimp! Or, better yet, measure the inside of the flue collar - if it is about 7 3/4 you should be able to crimp it enough to get it in there - if much less, it gonna be tough.

Oh. Okay I understand now... If this darn snow ever melts enough for me to get to our camp I will give that a try. Thanks so much for your help.
