I have noticed a change in mine; this is my first season burning. I used to get it shut off right at #2, now I can go below #2 before it shuts.

If my stove is warn and cruising at 4-450 or so it will still shut at 2.
The one thing I like is that if i load up and burn on 3 for awhile I can then turn it to 2 and after awhile it will close.
That said I wish has the stove cooled at the other end of the burn that it would open more on it's own.

Are you talking on a hot or cold stove? I think mine closes just a touch over 1 on a stone cold stove. I'll check it the next time it goes cold which probably won't be for a while. If you're talking a warm stove when my stove top is around 550 it will close around 1 3/4 or so.

Mine has closed at around #2 pretty consistantly. I haven't noticed much change with hot vs cold.
Edit: Sorry, I didn't answer your questions. I have a hot stove right now.
Anyone have any information on the performance of the SIROCCO 20 BK .Im looking for some reviews but not finding out too much. ANyone here got one that could shed some light on its perf. I hear they are about 3K . Is it worth it for a sub 2CU Ft stove?
It was with a hot stove about 30 minutes after a full reload. Usually when I'm in the 24 hour reload mode I dial it down to 1.5 and can hear that click as the stat closes and everything goes dark in the box but lately I've had to turn it down a little further to hear that click and get the same dark box. I'm not too worried it still does what I want it to do, just have to turn it down a tad more.

I've been burning 24/7 with my new Sirocco 20 for about 2 weeks now in a 1500sq.ft. house with temps around -30c. Pushing about 100 pounds of wood through the door every day which is exactly how much I was expecting based on how much gas I used to use and calculating the furnace efficiency, BK's HHV specs, and the BTU value of the spruce I'm burning. Pretty happy overall but it's a lot of work to put that much softwood through such a small firebox. As soon as BK gets the Sirocco 30 into production I'll be swapping this out for the bigger model but I think this one will be great once the weather warms in a couple of months. Oh, I paid $3300 for the leg model, with all the options, delivered to the north edge of the world (Inuvik, NT)
SO: I touched this stove the day I bought mine. It has a shallow firebox so you'll have to empty ash more often than the uglier princess but it is much cheaper. The price tag on the leg model was 1695$. I know that you guys live east but I thought that this price issue was supposed to be resolved.
I see no valid reason/excuse in the world to buy a cat stove any smaller than the princess. I can dial the princess down to some ridiculously low btu output. Wait for the Sciro30, or the new 30 sized stove, buy today's chinook 30, or a princess.
$1695? why am i hearing $3000 + on this same stove? Does shipping to the east coast cost that much?

Everything is extra on these stoves. List price is $1695 but that's just for the firebox. You still have to add mandatory extras like a door (plain or shiny) and legs or pedestal, and then optional extras like ash pan, convection deck, and fans. You get from $1695 to $3000 pretty quickly...
My Lopi was exactly the same, door finish, legs cast or steel, blower or no blower.
Skipping town, be home SundayI split a couple of small ones to fill the gaps, but they wouldn't fit.

Sorry to report that 59 hours later, the stove is cold. Not a spark to be found.
Of course, the power was out until about an hour ago, so it didn't do much good to get the LP furnace running

I think you need a refund or replacement something just isn't right!
Already running about 600°. Was 55 in here when we got home. Next time we get a warm up I'll clean it up.
You're not paying extra you're choosing the options you want. It makes more sense than having to stock a stove with a gold door and one with a black door. Maybe I don't find it surprising since Lopi does it the same way.
A few times this season after the stove has settled in..maybe a hour the ir temp next to the cat will be like 550-600.
After a hour or so it will drop to 425-450,cat kinda dull but glowing.
Then after another hour or less the temp just below the probe will hit 700 or more and the cat is bright..real bright.
The cat never did completely stall.
Anybody else seen this deal?
Anyways here's a pic or two after this happens.

I don't know, the stove was complete on the floor with that price. Small stove, so I'm not a fan but I did look inside. When I bought my princess I paid the upgrade cost for the silver door and stuff. The ultra's base price was about 2200 and I was out the door for like 2800 with every possible option as well as our 9% sales tax.
You can call my dealer and he'll quote you. Surely you wouldn't buy from WA but you would be better off shopping around. 3000$ is ridiculous.
Mine does that quite often, I assumed it was the wood being totally dried out and burning hotter.
Mine also does on occasion. I've always figured it was a combo of the wood letting out more smoke for the cat to eat along with the t-stat opening some since I run my t-stat where it still opens/closes. When mine does it the coals will brighten up and sometimes I'll get flames for a bit.
Did my first 40 hour burn last week. I loaded up the stove Thursday night and decided to let it burn out so I could clean out the ash, inspect the cat and get her ready for this cold snap. Saturday morning I cleaned out the ash and there was still enough coals after removing the ash that I just reloaded and she took right off. Of course it wasn't putting out heat and the cat was inactive but the stove was still warm and I didn't need kindling or fire starter.

We're just getting through a cold snap complete with weather inversions and thick fog, burn bans, low 20s every day which for WA is pretty dang cold. I had to run the princess as hard as I ever have and really have to recommend the fans. Those fans strip heat off of the stove very fast and allow a rapid heat up of the room. Very impressive and worth the noise.
I also got to run a load above 2. Still at the top endge of the "normal range" so about 2.25 and the stove was flaming for nearly the whole load. I don't think that these cat stoves are really good at burning clean and hot, seems lots of pollutants make it past the cat at high burn rates. I thought it was steam but the smoke travelled quite a ways.
Do your BKs pollute when burned at high settings? Is that a normal cat thing? As the load burned down, the smoke cleared up.

I don't bother looking anymore but when I first started with mine I noticed smoke until the flames get slow and lazy. It never lingers or travels more than 10' or so off the chimney but it's not pure white so I know it's more than water vapor.
We hit the single digits last night and I burned mine on the "n" on normal which is the hottest I ever burn. The room lost 2* over 12 hours though so I could've burned hotter.
