Avoiding a tragedy

We have had our Advantage 2 T now since 2010 and have enjoyed it a lot.

The back cover for the mechanical cabinet has been left off since we got it as for some reason the air entering through the slots made an annoying noise.

Just us two old folks here and no worries about us getting into the electrical stuff back there.

Last fall we adopted (For a big price) an exotic cat (Sphynx) into our family.

This little girl is so much a part of our lives it's not funny.
She sits on the floor and eats her handful of cherios in the morning and sits quietly by my side at dinner graciously accepting a morsel from my dinner.

Come time to hit the rack and watch a movie she is all ready to go with her little head on my pillow and waiting patiently.

Sleeps with us every night
Even gets into the bath tub and enjoys a good warm soak with me from time to time.

This morning I was filling the big Whit and the kitty was behind the stove with her paws up on the edge of the cabinet looking around at things.

The main power buss is only a couple inches away from her front paws.

OMG
I realized right then that the stove back was open and little missy cat could easily get killed.

Shut the stove off post haste and headed to town to get a piece of aluminum expanded metal.

Just finished trimming it to fit and fastening it onto the stove.

All is well and kitty is laying by the fire enjoying.

Just a reminder that our little fur children are vulnerable too.

No biggy, JUST LOVING

"Chupi" is a Sphynx cat, about 8 pounds give or take. Relatively small cat as cats go.
The males tend to be a tad larger.

She is supposed to be hairless (Breed thing) but has a very fine down like fuzz.

No wiskers
Very playful, almost kitten like and this trait lasts for life I'm told.

We got her because the breed tends not to cause allergy sufferers to have issues, and to date this has been the case.
The allergy thing was a big issue, with a family member that is very much allergic to cats (but loves them)

The name "Chupi" was a crazy thing.

I text'd a piccy oh her to my son in law when we picked her up at the cattery, and she was looking out of a CAT TACO (Cat snuggle rug thing) and her lack of whiskers and the glowing eyes from the camera flash made a very strange piccy.

The kid text me back "OMG looks like a Chupacabra"

The next morning I get a text, "Ahhhh, hows Chupi doing" ?????

The name stuck.

Part cat, part dog, part monkey

She will play fetch with me like a dog, follows me around the house like a dog. climbs all over like a monkey and meows and purrs like a cat.

Strange little creatures, but sure like their hoooomans.

Big time lap hog.

Strangest thing is her love of playing in the bath tub.

If I shut the door to keep her out while I'm in the tub, there will be no peace, ahhh better to let her come enjoy too.

With her little thin fuzz, the dry time is minimal.

A real joy to have her in the family.

Our last cat chose us and was with us 23 years.

Unless something unforeseen happens, I suspect Chupi will outlive me.

For a family (person) with allergies, the Sphynx is a great choice for a pet.

Buttttttttttttttttttttt, be prepared to dig deep into the wallet.

Kittens generally go for $1000 and up
Adults such as retired "Queens" can be in the $500 and less

Chupi was part of the breeding program and had raised 2 litters and was then spayed and put up for adoption.

We paid $350 for her.

Small price for such a bundle of joy.

Keep the critters safe and the fires warm

Oh yes.

The Sphynx cats love to be right in the middle of what your're doing.
Be it eating, cleaning the stove, making the bed (Read that as a lump under the sheet)

They take curiosity to a far greater height than other cats do.

Opening doors, cupboards and exploring inside.
