We have a blaze king (we think it’s a ke1107 model about 12 years old) and recently the hook on the bypass door completely broke off. We re-welded the hook back on, but now the door itself won’t stay seated correctly. The door falls off of the bypass rod when opened all the way and the bypass retainers are getting bent and warped because of this. It seems like the bypass door is shifting around too much and we suspect it might be a bypass rod issue? Anyone have any thoughts? Is it even possible to replace the bypass rod? We do not live close to any dealers unfortunately so having a professional look at it isn’t an option at the moment.

The devices in your hand are called bypass retainers. The are to be installed on each side of the combustor and keep the bypass rod from coming out from under the bypass ramp. One of yours look mangled and got chewed up somehow.

You can order a bypass plate replacement kit. It will have the plate, bypass plate retainers (in your photo) and combustor gasket. When you order from the dealer (you can call one and do it over the phone) just pay them with a cc and ask that the part be drop shipped to your home.

Might be good to ask BK if you've been running the stove too hot in the bypass mode.... you may have melted the metal on this.

Those are stainless and have never melted. If the cat has ever been pulled, they may have been installed but not seated correctly. Or if the ramp on the bypass broke, it may have shifted and hit the flap on the retainer. Either way, the replacement bypass plate kit covers all of these concerns.
