Blaze King Prices?

Hello,

Just signed up but have been a lurker for a while. Thanks for all the informative posts.

I'm looking to purchase a Blaze King Princess Ultra and have read several posts commenting on price variations. Anybody care to tell what they paid? I've been quoted 2700 for the Ultra. I don't like making large purchases without knowing what the item usually sells for.

Any input appreciated.

Where are you located that prices seems decent to me. I was quoted 3300 or so in Michigan before I bought mine.

Jeff_T and Cowboy Billy paid in the 2600 range IIRC, this was a unique situation though. I believe the stove shop just wanted to move them out of their shop. Could have been another member that paid in that range though, hard to remember all of it.

Thats a decent price this time of year, you might find it a tad cheaper but if this is the price of your local dealer Id develop a relationship and not drive 200 miles to save $150.

I just bought a BK Chinook 30 for $2300. The Princess ultra was $2219.

i just bought a princess. (with the extra $280 for the door) the stove out the door without tax was $2700. i'm in ct so the stove had to be shipped cross country as my dealer dosnt carry in stock. seems to me the closer you are to the factory the less the price should be.

I just bought a BK Chinook 30 for $2300. The Princess ultra was $2219.

Wow. If I could get my hands on a BK for $2200-2300 I would start saving up now! I'm in MA an I called up the closest dealer and was given a price of close to $4k for the King. Only the Chinook 30 or Princess will fit on my hearth. I was quoted $3700 for the princess.

I don't know if its an East Coast thing or if its just greedy MA pricing. It would be worth driving across the country to pick up a stove for that much of a price difference.

Don't forget the door and surrounds are extra. I just got the princess insert for $2333 plus $458 for the door and another $329 for the surround. Can't wait until it gets here

My plain Jane Princess Parlor was $2500. I think $2700 for the Ultra is a decent deal.

It was the same way with my Lopi Endeavor, I'd guess it's due to being able to get the doors in different finishes.(Black, Brass, Silver) My Endeavor I also had to pay for the legs.

You need to define your options. Fan? Convection deck? Rails? rail color? Door color? OAK? Each of these adds significant cost to the base price. $2700 is a good price for decked out stove.

MA doesn't necessarily price gouge but east of the mississippi there is a huge surcharge.

Picked up the Princess Ultra with fans today for 2200. Got it in my basement and I'm about half way through the chimney install. Can't wait to light her up...

for $2700 mine isnt decked out. black door and no fans or convection deck. those are going to be my christmas presant to myself! probally another $400. also, i didnt pay tax because i'm a farmer. that saved me almost $300.

I went through the same dealer. Just called and negotiated! I mentioned some of the information posted above, they crunched some numbers and said they could do 2200. Ultra w/fans and black door. No convection deck or OAK.

Just wanted to report back. Got the stove installed and for the most part love it.

The pro's:

Love the ease of use. Literally load her up and let her cruise.
Very impressed with how cool the back and sides stay even when she's running on #3.

Con:

My burn time is shorter than I expected. I have been setting the thermostat at #2 and she wont go all night. I feel like I need to check every 6 hrs. In the morning, after 10 hrs on #2, there are still a few coals but heat. My house must be a bigger heat sink than I expected. Any lower than #2, and there is barely any heat produced.

I know it's highly discouraged, but I'm contemplating making the king work with my 6 inch flue because burn time was the whole reason I bought the bk. Any thoughts? There's another thread on this form discussing this issue, but the two guys contemplating it never reported back.

What type of wood are you burning and how full are you loading? On "2" I can easily get 12 hours out of a full load with a stove top over 400*. Basement installs are tough, if the basement is well insulated it works decent if not all your heat is going out instead of up.

What type of stove top temps are you seeing during the burn? What are your basement temps during the burn?

I would also wonder how big a house/area you are trying to heat, and at what temperature are you trying to keep it? Are you operating it according to the manual? If you are, what speed are you running your fans at? What temperatures are the cat and the flue running at?

Basements can take a while to warm up if they are cold to begin with, once you get it heated up, then its easier to maintain.

With a little more information maybe we can help you out.

With the thermostat this stove will chow down on wet wood since it takes so much of the wood's energy to boil off the water you will not satisfy the stat unless you really use up some fuel. The fact that you even know what it's like at #3 for any length of time tells me something is wrong.

How full are you loading and with what kind of wood?

i left mine on #3 for half an hour the other day by accident. it was a OHH CHIT moment for sure! you guys dont run these wide upen do you? i wouldnt think it is safe!
