Yesterday we installed a new (for me) Jotul F500 in our cabin. In the evening friends came over to help us celebrate!

Looks cozy. Nice clean install also.

I'm curious about the 90 elbow and why it is thicker. What brand stove pipe is this? Same brand chimney pipe?

Interesting to see products that are familiar distributed around the world. Everyone knows that companies sell around the world, but still interesting to see in a real life situation. Nice install. Keep us posted as to wood consumption, home comfort level, etc.

Great looking Cabin.......great install

Now that you mention it, that does look interesting...... Almost looks seamless? @revdocjim what brand is the stove pipe elbow?
The reason I ask is that it looks like Class A pipe. We can't get or use class A 90's for North American installations.

Good for you! Is that girl drinking tsing Tao by any chance? Thats the only Japanese beer ive ever tried and it was decent. I even had a promotional mini gong in college from them... Guess how obnoxious i was with that thing when I was 19!

Tsing Tsao is Chinese I think. Saporro, Kirin, Asahi are Japanese brands.

Thanks for the comments and sorry to be so slow in responding.
First, about the chimney... I can't remember the name of the manufacturer but it is domestic Japanese pipe. The switch from single to double (insulated) occurs right below the 90 so that is why it gets fatter. I'm not sure if that is what's being asked or not.

As for the beer, these folks are definitely not into major brands and have a serious hankering for craft beer. Fortunately the craft beer market is booming in Japan. The smaller bottles you see on the table and in the young lady's hand are from Shiga Kogen. We had two varieties that night. One is their 10 year anniversary IPA called 其の十 (Sonoju) which simply means "The Tenth". The other is a very limited production of IBA (India Black Ale) which was made with home grown hops. The plastic clear bottle on the table contains a home brew ale that wasn't bad but was up against some pretty tough competition that night from Shiga. :) The large bottle is sake (Japanese rice wine) and I don't remember the name but it was a big hit too.

I'm attaching a link to more photos in case anyone is interested.
