I have some leather wool lined slippers that tend to get a bit funky because I don't wear socks. Figured I'd throw some dryer sheets in the and put them on the Peet dryer. Not only did it help the shoes it made the entire basement smell better. I have always shoved dryer sheets in my fire pack or under the seat of my truck but never thought about putting them in shoes.
 
I have a PEET boot dryer that does wonders for keeping the funk out of boots.
 
Baking soda works great as an anti funkal
 
Loosely crumpled very dry newspaper also works.

That was a strict regimen around here when both our boys were each playing soccer 3 times a week.
