With those stove top temps and the slow warmup it sounds like the wood may be still a little damp. Our big beast can get up to 400F stove top in about 20 minutes.
 
I was being super cautious with loading. I started with very small splits and didn't make any effort to accelerate the burn with repositioning or adding wood. I could have easily sped it up; I was happy to have it ramp up slowly this time.
 
Sounds good. You'll be running full loads soon enough when it gets cold outside.
