Need help outfitting workshop

Have a friend looking to heat a 60x40 workshop with wood furnace. Has 13' ceilings and not much insulation.

Any thoughts on size, btu's, brand/models.

Any input appreciated.

Really the best place to start is with more insulation. I realize that it's not your shop and probably not what he asked you, but unless he has firewood falling from the sky……

More insulation may come later, but right now, just looking for a starting point on the size of the furnace.

unless he has radiant-in-floor (assuming not since you used 'furnace'), a big woodstove can be had for cheap and put the money saved into insulation.

i picked mine up for $100. while my barn is uninsulated, it is nice just to work in front of. then i have an insulated room in the barn where the wood boiler for the house lives to bring smaller projects into.

Not a boiler system.

Nothing available from the regular folks for residential use will be big enough. He's better off getting a radiant heat source to stay warm "campfire style". Think propane patio heaters or overhead radiant tube heaters also gas fired.
