My kids school is postponed 2hr for cold weather tomorrow. No snow, just cold. They should place wood stoves in the school. Then it would be cold.

Where you at. I see you posted this 5 mins ago. I just got a call about 10 mins ago saying my kids school is postponed 2 hours tomorrow for cold weather too.

I'm in triton school district. Newbury ma.

It's not so much the school as all the busses that are going to have dead batteries, and frozen fuel lines in the morning.
But, if they had wood stoves in the schools, they could take a tray of coals and put it under the bus engines (it works but don't try this at home) and warm them up to the point where they'll start!

The wife just got a robo call saying school here will be on time, no delay. Boston public closed tomorrow.

When I was in school we DID have a wood stove ............

My kids have been off all week due to wind-chills. Today will be the first day back since December. If this new trend to cancel due to wind keeps up, they will be going till the 4th of July!!

never seen so many closings, we walked in this weather. 2 miles, uphill both ways, carrying my little brother, no gloves or hat........

-11 to -16 on my way into work this morning.

Haven't heard of any school closings or delays up this way.

Things are starting to get a bit wonky though . . . my tailgate on my truck will not latch in the cold and a jack that I had in the back slid in the plastic bedliner and punched a small hole in the now brittle plastic.

This is the kind of weather where you need to drive a few miles before you work the flat spots out of the bottom of your tires.

I agree with you warm in NH ,I headed down the road in the truck this mourning ,couldn't keep my coffee in the cup for a mile or two ;)

Our school went from a 2 hour delay to closed. Way to screw up my work day, being a single dad. Never heard of closing for cold. If your kid cant walk from the house to the bus and bus to the school in -20 wind chills either:
1. Darwin says you need to make a new kid
2. Kid needs new parents because you cant dress your kid for weather..

Christ, my son and I were out last night at 8pm making snow angels. For real. All skin covered except the eye balls. Took an hour before we got cold enough to call it quits.

Pansies.

I agree. I have to walk my son to the bus stop. In cold weather I drive him. Schools don't have to postpone or cancel school. Let the parent take the percausions to keep their kids safe. Pussification of America.

......and drive a few more miles to warm up the vehicle's seat enough to conform to your lower body part. :)

Here all the schools around us started 2 hours late, the school my kids attend was on right on schedule with normal hours.
Thinking to myself they must have been able to get the buses started.
I think they park them in a large garage over night.

It was rather cold here last night; see photographic evidence above. Yes, that's in degrees F, I'll just go ahead and say it was 27 below. Also we just got 2 feet of snow Tuesday night, with 2 to 3 more forecast between tonight and Saturday night. Don'tcha love it?

Amazing with the Tug Hill being only a few miles north of me, it may as well be on a different planet. Brewerton gets 6", you guys get 3'.

Txl, I thought it was proven once that you never get that cold;)

Quentin, Yes, perhaps I photo shopped the thermometer? Anyway, here are some new images from this morning; enjoy!!

txl, just to clarify, I was referencing a discussion/argument from a year ago where someone was saying you only get that cold once every 20 years. I might be mistaking you with someone else however. Anyways, that's damn cold for sure.

Newburner, curious where that reading was taken from? I've worked in that temp quite a few times up in the north slope oil fields but only with windchill factored in.

Quentin,
Yes, that.was indeed me, I recognized the reference. We received over four feet of snow the last two days, w/temps in the single digits. Gotta shovel off the roof tomorrow; sometimes I question why I live here...
