I just really starting burning a lot last season and my gf catches me staring at the wood pile- it is growing because i just had trees cut down.

I'm looking forward to making a perfect cube of wood and staring at it a lot. I will have my moisture meter handy and occasionally split a piece...

move to 04945 its been in the 40-45 degree range every night this week.

In Waupaca, and ME, you guys will be burning before you know it.

Well, at least I'm not alone....I just try to make sure my wife isn't looking when I pick up a piece and sniff it.

Me too! It seems every 2-3 days they need a "straightening" check. It helps me cope when the temps are too warm to get the saw out and go cut more.

I'm counting the days till fall cutting starts back up and then from there it will be days until I can re-light the stove and sit back with a cup of coffee and enjoy!

We've been working on our 2016-2017 stash of hardwood. Tinkered with the splitter and have it working well again so we are catching when there is a cloudy day or two. This batch is mostly wild cherry and madrona.

It's raining right now, but the next 5-day dry spell we have, I'll take the top couple of rows of the stacks and move them into the basement. Repeat the process until November and I should have the winter's-worth in the basement.

I had to use the wood stove here in Newfoundland as we had frost on a couple of occasions. And really cold temps in general.
been a really cold summer.

Tuning up the wood stacks is on my to do list. It gets a little tedious pounding on the wood with a tamper.
