Couldn't stand it any longer - there's still snow around the edges, but it retreated enough that my splitter & pile of white birch I cut & dumped late last fall was finally free from it. It was a cold damp day - but I just had to get that splitter running again. This was about 4 hours or so later - enough for the first day back at it. My back appreciates going vertical from a comfy seat.



Giving it a good once over, extending the log cradles, and re-routing the hoses are on the to-do list for this spring - if it ever really gets here.

Nice pile, feels good to back out I bet. Those Spalding's throw any heat? Wouldn't think so not very dense.

How about a pic of that splitter? Can't tell from the pic, is that an table accessory or something to get the motor away from the operator?

The above pic is just how it looks when it's tilted.

They really messed up the hose routing on it. Or maybe it was partly the guy I got it from - he did replace one of them at one point. The newer ones have the routing nailed a lot better - I might have to get slightly longer ones to get them routed & secured proper like. Just haven't gotten around to it. Think I have some angle scraps around I can make into a couple extra bolt-on cradles. The little ones that are built-in do OK most of the time - but I'm going bigger anyway. Would also like to have bigger wheels on it too - but don't think I'll bother chasing that.

The Spalding - huh, good catch. There's a basketball net just out of sight to the right. Kid was out there shooting baskets while I was splitting. I should go hide it on him.

It's all 22" or less - although there might be the very odd one that accidentally got cut longer.

I was out there again for a while last night to finish the pile (the sun was actually shining, wow) - didn't take a finished pic though, had to get back inside for the Raptors game.

You must've moved the splitter to get the nice distribution of splits so they can be readily stacked-nice! I'm STILL working on my work flow. Although maybe I'll become the guy you bought the splitter from: "retired fellow, looks like he took pretty good care of it".

Yeah, don't bother. What you gain in size is going to complicate using it in the vertical position. Larger tires are gonna want to raise the foot off of the ground.
