Hello!! We have also loved our new Aspen C3 and are disappointed that the handle mechanism has become stuck open (handle up) after only about 3 months of regular use.

I'm about to remove the handle and the ball mechanism as per others' advice, but have a question for folks that have done this before - would it be possible to only remove the small plate that has the Phillips screw and not the handle via the Allen screw? It seems like I would be able to access the offending bits of metal without removing the whole handle. Am I wrong? Please advise. Thank you! Happy spring :)!

You would only need to remove the handle pivot/mounting screw if your door were stuck closed. Since it's open, you can just remove the plate and detent mechanism.
