Well! 2025 fall season and we’re back at it

Sadly, still the Panadero with no flue improvements yet.

I was out cutting firewood today and as soon as I pulled the plastic it started to snow, and snowed on me the whole time.

The salon was 14°C at lunchtime so I lit a fire. This past Monday I swept and cleaned and got everything ready and had the first fire of the season. Many of the welds on the secondary fins on the deflector have failed; I had my buddy over this past Monday and he’s happy to re-weld the fins whenever…so in the next couple weeks we’ll sort that out

Currently RealFeel is -1°C/ 31°F
I just reloaded white oak/ hazel atop some Siberian Elm coals.

37 hours on that full house of mixed hardwood and STT of 214, cat a little south of 400degrees (gauge is junk). House at 65 it’s 31 out as I type with clouds expected all day. Full load of spruce going in now.

It comes down to the thermostat setting, they are sensitive so an +1/8” in the clockwise direction things may have worked out different.

Got home to a chilly house. 61. Full load of ash. Upper 20s when I got home this morning. 70-71 in here now.

It's 33 out tonight, the basement started out at 73 with the temps up here 70 and the sleeper at 68. The stove has a load of ash in it for the overnight load.

We haven't been burning much the past two days, this is our first overnight fire since the scrounge of ash.

39/67 Cloudy and not as cold as the last few mornings.

Pallet wood a few chunks of very old cut up cedar posts topped off with a lopsided piece of red Oak.

I’m riding out last nights load of oak and spruce, probably a 50/50 mix. Seems mild and rainy out today so maybe no reload until tonight.

No stove the last few days. Upper 40’s and rain. Mini splits taking the chill off. It’s been a colder November this year. Used more wood than last year at this time.

I started a fire this morning and then shut it down as it was so mild here today. Just fired back with a couple chunks of oak and a split of charred oak from this morning. No hot coals in the stove but it fired up with a couple pine cones and a stick of fatwood.

I got tonight’s load in early, a mix of hardwoods lit off today’s spruce coals. Damp and 40 out currently with the temps dropping to 30. There is a breeze outside now as well.

Been busy past couple of days…

Yesterday after morning fire threw a bunch of cutoffs in 2 separate times, no overnight fire. Still 74 at bedtime.

This morning all silver maple and 1 split of ash.

Tonight is 75% ash and 25% silver maple. Down to upper 20s tonight.

Good Morning! 24/64 Just enough coals to get the fire going again. Four splits of oak and away we go. 4 splits pretty much fills my firebox.

Had excellent coals this morning. Fire got going before I could get the door closed, 200 degrees STT after 12 hours. 26 out and very frosty this morning. 69 inside. Ash, 1 split of red oak and a split of silver maple.

It got colder than expected last night, weather app said 30 when I got up it was 24. 69 in the house with lots of fuel left in the tank for today. Woke up the king with a slight thermostat adjustment and am watching some blue flames dance around the firebox. High around 40 and clouds today, coffee☕️☕️ time 👍🏼
