Another overnight load of hickory and maybe oak. Outside temp 32, 68 inside, STT 280, CAT settling in a 1220, air a crack past full closed.

34 feels like 21 outside; storming.
70 upstairs.
A reload of some bent oak pieces over a layer of coals too much to rake forward, but I want to go to bed. In hindsight, and in view of what was still burning now, I think that one split I thought was spruce, was something else.

The winds did not quit last night down this way, that is for sure! I woke several times expecting to hear the generator running or at minimum clocks blinking 12:00 🤬. How was it up your area?

Served the dragon breakfast. Was awakened 4 times from her grumbling for food last night.
This morning she was fed a piggy in a blanket.

2 big triangular splits of ash. Place first so they formed a valley. In the valley a very dry 4x4 split of red oak. On top of that 2 more ash splits. topped with 1 black locust slab. All served on slathered coals.

I have a wheel barrels worth of tat super dry oak, and I'm trying to conserve it. At least there's more outside to gather. About to more wheel barrels.

Are we there yet?

Windy, Very Windy. All Night and all day so far. The feels like is still single digits. The weather folks are saying 18-20mph sustained with gusts to 50mph. So far so good here. But I'm sure there has to be outages around the area

Sounds like a good d day to throw wood at the fire and enjoy not being outside

After 80 on Saturday it's winter again, 22 when I hit the coffee pot this morning. I was lazy last night and didn't grab this morning's load. Stepped out into the breeze for a bunch of pine splits. Coffee and some time and the rock is toasty.

Stay warm y'all, especially you guys up in the real winter weather.

30 outside feels like 20; still very windy.
Last night's 10.15 load is done.
I added 4 small shorties.

0 degrees, temperature was supposed to rise overnight but it keeps dropping. Stuffed full with cherry, white ash and 1 hickory.

Wife had me lower the thermostat setting downstairs because the utility bill was too high and it seems like the main level with the fireplace is harder to heat. I suspect a lot of the heat for downstairs was coming up the stairwell and helping heat the main level. Need to get the interior doors purchased and installed.

26 feels like 16 outside. Fluctuating between 26 and 28 overnight.
70 upstairs.
Red oak shorties and two longer spruce splits.
